Vision often causes extreme upset, fear, unhappiness and even depression by eliminating the ability to do the important things in life. Activities we take for granted like reading and writing, driving, watching television, seeing faces and perhaps simply remaining independent become difficult or impossible.
How Can We Help?
The International Academy of Low Vision Specialists was created to address those issues and offer help to many with low vision, regardless of the cause of vision loss. Members of the IALVS, have had extensive training and are very experienced in working with those type of individuals to improve their quality of life.
IALVS doctors of optometry perform a functional low vision assessment and offer a variety of special glasses and other solutions to assist those suffering the effects of vision loss. Whether its’ from a medical condition like age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts or a genetic defect like albinism, we strive to find a way to help our patients stay independent and functional.
We believe in life after vision loss, therefore our patients’ independence and quality of life is our foremost priority at all times. We are uniquely trained low vision eye doctors committed to the highest quality visual, optical and rehabilitative solutions for patients challenged with vision loss. We strive to keep informed and updated on all treatment and rehabilitative strategies that may improve the well-being and visual status of those we are privileged to serve.
